We have been providing advice on Wills, probate and Estate planning in East Sussex for over 100 years and in Kent for over 17 years so have extensive knowledge in this area of law.
The only way to be sure that your assets will pass to whom you wish on your death is to make a Will. Despite this, the majority of people die without leaving a Will, which is known as dying intestate. Dying intestate can lead to upset and stress for your family, particularly as at present the intestacy rules do not cover all family set ups.
We do not recommend DIY Wills as it is very easy to unintentionally get things wrong. Many people think a DIY Will is the cheaper option, but we can offer free basic wills under the WillAid and Cancer Research UK Will schemes with a small additional fee should your Will be complex and/or include additional clauses. The important thing to remember is that everyone has the opportunity to have a properly drawn Will with expert advice on how to divide their Estate with the best possible tax advantage.
Second or third families are extremely common and often individuals wish to make provision for their children from a previous relationship, whilst still protecting the needs of their current partner. We are able to offer practical advice for dealing with this situation in a cost effective manner.
If you have been appointed as an Executor or someone has died intestate we can assist you in administering their Estate in a sensitive yet efficient manner. We are aware of how difficult it can be to deal with the affairs of someone that you were close to and the task of sorting through the possessions and financial papers can be extremely upsetting and time consuming.
