Wills, Probate and Planning

Wills and Probate Kent & East Sussex

We have been providing advice on wills, probate and planning in Kent for many years so have extensive knowledge in this area of law.

The only way to be sure that your assets will pass to whom you wish on your death is to make a Will.  Despite this, the majority of people die without leaving a Will, which is known as dying intestate.  Dying instestate can lead to upset and stress for your family, particularly as, at present, the intestacy rules do not cover all family set ups.

We can assist you with preparing a Will and can also advise you in relation to the best tax planning methods for your estate.  We do not recommend DIY Wills as it is very easy to unintentionally get things wrong.  Many people think a DIY Will is the cheaper option, but can offer free wills to anyone who aged 55 or over or married to someone of that age or anyone who suffering from cancer - this is in conjunction with the charity Cancer Research.  For younger people we can offer payment by way of instalments as we are keen to ensure that everyone - whatever their age - has the opportunity to have a properly drawn Will with expert advice on how to divide their estate with the best possible tax advantage.

Second or third families are extremely common and often individuals wish to make provision for their children from a previous relationship, whilst still protecting the needs of their current partner.  We are able to offer practical advice for dealing with this situation in a cost effective manner.

If you have been appointed as an executor or someone has died intestate we can assist you in administering their estate in a sensitive yet efficient manner as we are aware of how difficult it can be to deal with the affairs of someone that you were close to and the task of sorting through the possessions and financial papers can be extremely upsetting and time consuming.
